Looking at closing this down

Postby Ross » Thu Apr 23, 2026 12:56 pm

Hi all,

Over the last 15 years this forum definitely had its peak and when I owned Mazda6s I didn't mind paying for this platform (several £1000 over the years!). However, looking at the posts this year, there's only been a small handful and I also no longer own a Mazda6 or have time to invest into this website.

Therefore I am proposing to close this site down to save on my costs.

We of course have the Facebook group that will remain as this is free of charge.

Please let me know your thoughts, if anyone really wants to keep this site going they will need to be able to take it all on themselves, including the webspace and costs.

Thanks!

Hi Ross,

As a long term member but not participating much lately, I fully appreciate your position. I have had ny current Mazda 6 for almost 8 years now and it is still going strong, In its heyday the site was incrdeibly useful and I, for one, was very grateful for the support of members and in return was able to offer some practical advice on various topics such as the space saver options. The car has now been out of production since 2023 in the UK (possibly to the regret of Mazda), so there is much less mainstream interest in it. I don't think anyone can expect you to spend money on maintaining what is now an essentially moroibund forum with minimal activity. If someone else wants to take it over then fine, but otherwise I would just like to register my appreciation to you for provding such a useful forum resource over many years.

Thanks Colin, appreciate your response.

Based on there being 1 response... looks like this will be going down in the next week or so!

It was good whilst it lasted!

See you all on Facebook :)

Ross,

Thanks for running this forum for the last 15 years, I have been with you since 2014 and like Colin found the forum interesting in those heady days of the new Skyactive with all the recalls, being new to Mazda and recalls on New cars. Sign of the times i suppose.

From then, I am in touch with Colin, Steve100 -MILES, DerekMC and Woodbar - Nigel Pont, the last two just occassionally, but believe Derek after driving a BMW came back to an M6, , Woodbar has M3's in the family, but does not drive a Mazda himself now. Steve had to go for a CX5 as somebody hit his M6 and the insurance company wrote it off, then it was on the road with in 6 weeks repaired by a new owner.

For those that are not on Social Media there is the US based Mazda6Club.com , and https://www.mazda3revolution.com

The Mazda 6 club tends to be more technical/ practical as the ownership is older compared to the M3 who are more concerned in 'go faster' and Apple Auto mods more a school play ground.
They have both got world wide presence, UK with the 2.2d problems , Europe and the Antipodes are well supported.

What are you driving now?

Colin and I are hanging onto our 6's as there is nothing out there so comfortable without being Starship Enterprise with all the gimmicks.
I wish you well for the future.

David
