Funny thing , lady mentioned that the problem is well known to Mazda and they received from Mazda technical bulletin regarding this issue.

Sounds like you could have a case to ask for a replacement car, which could be a cheaper option for them in the long run than having to supply and fit a new engine etc. Why the heck wasn't there a full recall at the time they found out that a batch of camshafts were faulty? The answer of course is that some cars may be low miliage and the problems don't occur until the warranty has expired - that's a catastrophy waiting to happen and unsuspecting second owners would have to foot the bill.

In your case damtom, you are fully covered under the warranty mate - don't be hoodwinked and make a very, very large noise in the showroom when it's full if possible and you will get a new car out of this. Threaten legal action for negligence as they admit that a TSB exists and did nothing.

Gen 3 owners please read!

Postby kiffyt » Sat Nov 29, 2014 2:09 pm

My Mazda 6 (150 Sport Tourer) has recently spent 3 weeks in the garage after I had the engine oil pressure light come on. I had done just over 20,000 miles (in just under a year).

The garage contacted Mazda about it and apparently a TSB was raised about 2 days after the car went in. I had to have new camshaft, turbo's, cylinder head and rockers all covered under warranty.

I hadn't noticed any issues with the car prior to the warning light coming on, but my car is now running better than it has ever done, a lot smoother and economical than it has ever been.

Overall I thought the issue had been dealt with well and I was very impressed with the service provided by the included Mazda roadside assistance.

Hi kiffyt

Did you get extended warranty for engine ???? In the end you had half of engine swapped for new.

I didn't ask about extended warranty, probably should of though! Although I will probably change the car just before the warranty expires anyway.

Here's the recall http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls ... =Blank&tx=

On the face of it the recall regards the PCM but I would say that that is a smoke screen by Mazda.

Nice to note that my VIN is out of range - phew

I was getting about 47mpg and am now getting about 51mpg (this is mainly on motorway and dual carriageway and around 60 miles a day).

Can I ask if your VIN was in the range of that mentioned on the recall I posted?
http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls ... =Blank&tx=

If yes, did you get a letter, before or since the problems?

I've not received any letters about this recall and my VIN number is not in that range
