I think they were already using it on the 3 and of course they had all the problems with the 2.0 diesels on the 6 so maybe they thought it would be a better solution than continuing to bodge up the older system? The 2.2 engines were introduced to remedy the DPF problems with the earlier 2.0 versions.

I meant why not fit the Urea system on the Mazda 6 3rd Generation, I don't see any problem topping up a urea tank each time I fill with diesel.
From what I have read and heard from my dealership it doesn't sound like the problem of the DPF was improved any on the 2.2 engines otherwise why have an X mark on the dipstick.
Why not have an injector downstream of the cylinders like the Toyota and inject fuel into the exhaust manifold, so it doesn't wash down the cylinder bores and contaminate the lube oil.
To say ( Dealer) these cars are only meant for motorway driving ( high exhaust temps), no car spends all its life on the motorway, in fact on a recent trip on the motorway I was subjected to 50mph average speeds and at times crawling in 2nd for mile after mile, with these 'smart ' motorway updates. M1, M25, M62, M6 and I belive they are starting it on the M4 and possibly all the others.
I am glad to hear Denvo got satisfaction from Mazda, but would it not been more economical to fit a new engine with the new camshafts rather than the 'fix it a little bit' attitude. They were very gracious in replacing the Turbocharger (even though they claim it wasn't warranted) but what about all the other bearings, timing chain and oil pump. Minute particles can still get through a filter ( hence changing the turbo) including diesel oil.
