Yup,
but the way I looked at it, back in Nov 13 they could give me a full alloy and tyre for free, or charge me close to £700 (as quoted in Nov13) and wait for a space saver (space saver & underfloor mouldings and jack etc)....
also, the 19" tyre was hard to get in stock that day or next, and would cost over £300, I would rather get my car towed home or ask a friend or the wife to bring out the full from my garage than be held hostage by the well known tyre fitters...
I took out tyre insurance online, but have discovered its a waste of time unless you can wait a few days or more to get it fixed/replaced...hence again the need for a full spare...
Things have obviously changed 18 months on, premium 19" tyres are going for £150+ now rather than £300+
Why cant we get the car companies to be sensible about spares....especially when using their gunk will destroy a perfectly repairable tyre most times....
