Good Job Roger in once again highlighting the VIN and Engine range of the faulty camshaft saga.

I think it's up to regular members to make sure that this thread is permentaly dispayed on the first page of the 3rd Gen forum. So that new M6 club members see it.

If this problem is only related to Diesels? then the title should reflect this so not to give a false heads up to all mazda's, so to speak.

Re: Gen 3 owners please read! Camshaft Issue

Not been on for a while due to Broadband issues but I got my car back at 4:00pm on Monday 16th Jan and it was back in the garage at 16:05 with more warning lights showing. Got it back that night and I can advise the following:
Camshaft kit is £202.10 + VAT
Turbo is £891.56 + VAT
But the story doesn't end there!!!
65 miles after getting the car back on the road the engine seized in lane 3 of a 4 lane section on the M1. Managed to coast to Lane 1 but with no hard shoulder on that section I had to get the family and dogs out of the car and behind the barriers.
Car was recovered to the dealer who are currently negotiating with Mazda about who will pay for the repairs.
My solicitor has advised that I have a good case if the garage or Mazda don't agree to pay. The solicitor would arrange for an independent motor engineer to examine the car and provide a full written report for the court files.
WATCH THIS SPACE.

This is a total nightmare and no doubt has destroyed your faith in the car!! You will be due a full repair as the car is clearly falling down on the major issue,,,, "fit for purpose!!" so I feel certain you will get a good outcome I feel so sorry you had to get it by this route.

Dreadful truly dreadful luck.

New engine would seem the logical fix? Rather than trying to continue to repair the current one, and probably less man hours to swap over?

My Mazda 6 kept losing power and having an occasional lumpy idle.
No fault codes, went into local Mazda garage, it's down on boost from the turbo and the exhaust cam shaft needs replacing.
Car has only done about 150-200 miles since I got it.
It's 3 yrs old (63 plate) and has done just over 60k. So outside Mazda warranty, but luckily being covered by the garage I purchased it from.
Apparently there is a two week wait on the new cam shaft and it's a known Mazda fault.

Edit: also both turbos are now being replaced too!
My vin # is: JMZGJ...137XXX

Is this in the expected failure range?
