I wouldn't think so unless you drove everywhere with the foot planted to the floor

I got a call from the dealer today about a "pump" recall, but allegedly nothing critical, that I can book in when convenient. My VIN ends with 148*** so I thought I am outside the faulty camshaft range. Hm.. will call them back next week to book in.

Damn, I am in range.. maybe I've mixed up recall ranges when I thought I am not.

So is this the camshaft one?

I am booked in for 1st of June - two recalls they said.

Vacum pump and PCM software. Which is interesting at least for the fact I already had one PCM software udpate in Oct/2014.

Are we talking about unconditional camshaft replacement or just some checks? Not sure if I have power less or decreased brake performance.. power is difficult to call if it goes gradually and brakes, hm, the pedal does feel different on the second/third press when stationary. Like it starts having a lot less travel and kind of goes down harder with some air noises. I have no idea if that is normal or not.

As per above, today vacuum pump replaced on my car plus PCM software update. Unfortunately service desk guy wasn't really knowledgeable so this is all I know. :( I did not feel much difference with the car yet.

I had my 6 booked in for it's 2nd service last Wednesday. When I arrived at the garage, the service desk informed me that they had a recall notice for a problem with the vacuum pump and that my car was included on the list of VIN numbers affected. They tested the pump and found that it needed replacing, but said that they would need to order one in from Mazda as they don't stock these as a routine spare.

I was told that the part was scheduled to arrive on Friday and they offered me a hire loan car which Mazda would pay for. I didn't take up the offer as I wasn't planning any long trips over the next few days and could use my wife's car for anything local.

The part obviously didn't arrive on Friday, as I haven't heard from the garage yet (Monday). I plan to call them this afternoon, if they haven't already been in touch with me.

It now seems as if the car will have been off the road for around 6/7 days, so I'm wondering if I'm entitled to any sort of compensation from Mazda, particularly as I haven't cost them a week's car hire.

I also wonder if the garage will try to charge me for fresh oil and a filter as part of the service I originally took the car in for. I gather that this has to be done anyway as part of the vacuum pump replacement, so assume that this cost would be borne by Mazda.

Anyone had any experience similar to this?
