Thanks for the comments, appreciated. It appears that the DPF was 4/5ths blocked which caused the problem with diesel getting into the sump. This sort of system must be a design fault by Mazda, after all who would allow fuel to enter the lubrication system. Will be attempting to get money back from Mazda as the independent garage advised that it was likely to have been partially blocked when I bought the car. Will be difficult to prove but surely shouldn't be that blocked after 31k miles and 4 and a half years. In case anyone else gets a similar problem, this has cost in excess of £5k to sort out. New bottom engine block and new DPF!!!

My 2013 model has had 2 new camshafts and a turbo rebuild, incompatible materials the mechanic told me , a common problem but only half paid by Mazda.

I only got my mazda in November (part ex'd my focus ecoboom).

After passing your enquire to our technical specialist , I can confirm that the vin supplied has no recalls either outstanding or completed for camshaft issues. As well as to this date Mazda has not released a campaign, bulletin or Mazda service program in the UK for soft camshafts on any Mazda 6.

As Paul381 mentioned and my SM has told me, the cam followers were too hard and caused wear on the camshaft up to the early 2014's. This could be down to poor QA at the Chinese factories making the parts or even the Chines cutting corners as they are known to do, not just on small diesels but those that power large container ships.
Years ago you never used to get problems like this. I know Ford OHC engines used to wear their camshafts out, but that was due to owners not changing the oil at specified times and sludge blocking the oil ways, not a design/manufacturing problem. Check out the Recall section above. Others have had similar problems on newer engines.

Just bought a 2 year old Mazda 6 sport saloon and was wondering how do i connect my mobile phone to it

Not sure why you are asking about phones on this thread?

You connect your phone via Bluetooth, go to setting menu on the car and pair your phone to the car.

I find the phone is best turned off in the car and out of reach. I tried the receive text function once just try it, never again, not while I am driving. I suppose its clever technology but do you really need to receive phone calls whilst driving? Nothing is that important. Before mobile phones the world still turned and will keep turning with or without mobile phones.

Please would someone post the full range of the affected VIN numbers with the soft camshafts?
I have the end of the range but not the start and I do have the first 5 letters.
