Mazda6OC Update 03/12/15 - PLEASE READ

Postby Ross » Thu Dec 03, 2015 6:19 pm

Hi all,

Firstly, my apologies for the forum being up and down recently and then the most recent outage. The previous host was being attacked and infected with viruses which resulted in our server being taken down. The last virus was unrecoverable and the host "Host PaPa" decided to wipe all of our data to get rid of it... ARGHHH!

So... luckily I had a PHPBB backup from just before it went down and so posts and users have been painstakingly recovered.

Any recent attachments and mods to the forum code will have been lost (for now) as I am currently working on restoring as much as I can.

There will be things that don't work as they should until I have restored and fixed it all so please if you find something wrong, let me know. I am concentrating on the forum for now and the web page will come at a later date (Not that it was used much anyway!)

We have switched to a new website host that now does daily backups! Hopefully they will be more reliable.

The downside to this is that the running costs have increased and if possible I would like to ask for your help to keep this club alive. I don't want to charge for membership as I have always wanted this to be a free service. However if you would like to help please use the donate button. As a rough idea of the club costs £80 will keep the forum up for a year, that's hosting, domains etc.

Please reply to this topic if you find things that don't work so I can add them to my "fix list".

The ones I've spotted straight away are:
- Homepage link needs removing from the header - Done
- Community Supporter user logo missing - Done
- Smilies missing - Done
- Tapatalk to be reinstalled - Done
- Images under header - Done
- PDF Manuals to be reuploaded - Done
- Forum links added to all pages - Done
...

I'm afraid you may have to reupload your avatars too

You're a star Ross, well done for getting it back up.

On my session, the banner and forum list is up, but the bit in between (new posts) is missing at the moment - I can see a sub-banner with a link to the board index, user control panel and "view your posts". I can see some of the smilies in the box to the right of this post, but can't see them in your post.

And my avatar still appears against my post, as does my post count, model, etc.

Thanks for the feedback Steve.

Any avatars before nov 2012 will be there :) as that's the only copy of the avatars folder I could recover. Posts, counts etc and "data" will still exit thank god.

As for the images under the heading... that's an easy ish fix when I find them lol

Well done Ross, what a hassle. At a few quid it is cheap at the price for the advice and support of members.

Hope things go smoothly from now on.
