Hi everyone. Been reading this thread as I have lost power on my m6. My VIN number is JMZGJ and ending 120287. Does this fall in to the affected range ? I have contacted Mazda today about it and it's booked on for Thursday. I asked him does it sound like the camshaft problem and that I am a member of this forum and he said it's either the turbo or soot build up but won't know until they look. I have had the car now 11 months and it's been fab until now. I said to him that if it's the camshaft, would it be covered and he checked the service history and it didn't have its first service at 12500 miles so it wouldn't be covered and it's out of warranty. It's been serviced every time since though. Do I have any leg to stand on with this matter. It's a 13 plate 2.2 skyactiv.

You say you have had the car 11 months how long was the warranty when you bought it ? If you have 12 months you should be covered by that dealer if not you might get some where with Mazda C/S if it’s camshaft related as it’s a well known problem that does affect the turbo as well as other parts. Good Luck.

Hi Steve. It only came with a one month guarantee from the garage I bought it from unfortunately. I did mention to the Mazda dealership I phoned yesterday that I am a member of here and know full well of the cam belt being not hardened but he said its out of warranty with Mazda and that the car missed its first service and said I had no chance of any recompense from them. Surely, if the car was not fit for purpose when it was assembled at factory, then it shouldn't matter when the part gives in or if it had the first service. Oh, he did say as well that the problem was not that the camshaft wasn't hardened, but in fact, it was too hard !! Surely that would become brittle then and break in to lots of big pieces.

Well, it didn't take any chances by taking it to Mazda for checking what the problem was. I took it back to where I bought the car from in the beginning and part exchanged for it for another Mazda but a 2015 plate so hopefully all will be fine with the newer model. It's due it's 75k service though but it's a lot cheaper than a new turbo and camshaft. Going by how this new one drives, I think my older one had had a problem from when I bought it as this new one is so much better.

Hi all. New here. The car I've purchased is a 2.2 63 plate diesel. It appears to have had the camchain and turbo replaced back in November 17.

This was done by Mazda.

If the camshaft has been replaced, should I be worried?
Have any Mazda been known to go a second time?

Glad you got sorted Good Luck with this one sounds like you should be better off with this one ! Remember do oil and filter changes every 6/7000 miles or 6 months if you don’t do the miles prevent any dpf problems no matter what sort of journeys you do and check oil level on the stick every 1000. ? No where near the X mark.

Have it check on rolling road for power output . Mine had issues after camshaft was changed.

Cheers Steve. I got everything's no crossed for this one. Can't afford any more foul ups now. I did take out a 3 year warranty on this one so should give me peace of mind. Only wished I had taken it out on the previous one but heh Ho, done now. Doing approx 16k miles a year, maybe a bit more so will be doing a couple of oil changes a year with it so hopefully zit will be ok. It's booked in for next Tuesday for its 75k service so hopefully all ok with it.
